Byzantine Light Infantry

Well, I have completed a 20 man, mixed unit of Byzantine light infantry.  The unit consists of 14 unarmored spearmen which are supported by 6 unarmored bowmen.

Historically, formations such as this were referred to a ‘Phalanx’, and consisted of multiple types of troops organized with spear/pikes to the front and lighter missile troops, which included javelin-men and bowmen in support.  Well here they are, arrayed for your review.

Byzantine Psiloi Skirmishers

Paint, paint, paint.  The love and joy of the wargamer is never done.  The labor and love, sometimes combined with frustration, are feelings most of us dedicated to the hobby share in common. After a disaterous application of an old can of GW Matte Varnish Spray to a freshly painted group of shields, with beautiful LBMS shield transfers… After cussing and having to throw 10 shields into Simple Green, a few hours later I started fresh and went with a much more simple shield design and paint job. Now my 10 Byzantine Psiloi are now done.  Here they are for your review.

Byzantine Light Infantry Command

Just wanted to take a second and update everyone on my painting progress.  It is with major disappointment that my miniature order from England was delayed and not all of the items I needed to complete my Christian Spanish will be ready in time for me to get it all painted before The Worlds 2014 in Germany.

So I broke out my Byzantines and began working on them again.  Since I hadn’t touched them in over a year, I was disappointed that I had so few done and so many more to go before I can relax and just play practice games of WAB.

Well here is my first group of finished command, complete with a banner from Little Big Men Studios.
